This is moving in the right direction and it’s great to share with you all – although it’s not enough – it’s a start and recognition of the fact that Breast Density affects the reliability of Screening Mammograms
Important to know that there’s NEW EUROPEAN GUIDELINES on Breast Cancer Screening
UPDATE from The 🇪🇺 European Commission Initiative on Breast Cancer (ECIBC)
“In the context of an organised screening programme, the ECIBC’s Guidelines Development Group (GDG) suggests:
using Digital Breast Tomosynthesis for women with high mammographic breast density detected in previous screening exams”
“These recommendations aim to provide advice about the most suitable test for women with high breast density attending a screening programme”
DBT is a 3D Mammographic Imaging
Our Breast Cancer Screening Program In Ireland – BreastCheck has been using 2D Mammogram Imaging
So here’s the big concern for so many Women. How will you know if you have high Mammographic Breast Density (Category C or D)
EXACTLY 💯 % There is an anomaly because YOU WON’T KNOW UNLESS YOU ARE TOLD! Currently BreastCheck do not notify Women who attend for their Screening Mammogram if they have Dense Breasts
So we’ve a way to go on this before there is a Countrywide Breast Density Notification Policy in place and as women we can influence this for all our sakes
Please ask about your personal Category of Breast Density and keep asking until you know if it’s A B C or D
