Breast cancer risk

There is a strong connection between breast cancer and the high rate of breast density. Most of the studies on breast density are based on 2D mammogram. As such we need to be cautious in using it as a predictor of breast cancer.

The urgency to establish international standard protocols in breast density measurement is imperative.

Identifying whether or not you have breast density has the potential to prevent late breast cancer diagnosis the harrowing effects that will follow.

Take control and ask at your next mammogram.

It is time that women in Ireland are afforded the same opportunity as their American counterparts. When we go for a mammogram in Ireland we should be routinely told if we have breast density and if we have, we should be advised to seek an Ultrasound and further testing.
