Tell Me My Breast Density

LADIES

For more than a decade, women in Ireland have been campaigning for Standardised Breast Density Notification. It’s a question of personal autonomy, having access to personal breast health information, it’s about ethics and respect for women’s health.

If you don’t know, you can’t/won’t ask
If you’re not told you cannot mitigate against the well documented additional, associated Breast Cancer risk.

The Radiologist who reads your Mammogram will know if you have Dense Breasts. This is information that belongs to the Woman.

We don’t hide high Blood Pressure results, or high Cholesterol results, or high PSA results – WHY are we hiding high Breast Density results from women.

#TellMeMyBreastDensity

If you have #DenseBreasts you have an increased risk of developing Breast Cancer. It’s a non modifiable risk factor and you have no way of knowing UNLESS your Mammogram result is tasked with telling you.
Almost half of all Women have Dense Breasts

If you have #DenseBreasts the efficacy and sensitivity of your Mammogram to detect Breast Cancer is significantly reduced.
Up to 50% of Breast Cancers are missed on Mammograms in Dense Breasts.

Category C and D are considered to be #DenseBreasts
